Percy Run The Birmingham 10k

On Sunday, 6th May, 19 staff members from Percy Shurmer tackled the Birmingham 10K to raise funds to buy the latest support equipment for the school's Deaf Learning Base.

The sun was shining down on the runners as they set off from the city centre, taking in sights such as the Selfridges building, Cannon Hill Park and Edgbaston Stadium. Thank you to all of the parents and children who came out to support us along the way.

This short video clip highlights why so many teachers decided to brave the 10k run.

There is still time to donate.

Hollywood Comes to Percy! (14/03/2018)

Last Wednesday, Chris Overton (director) and Rachel Shenton (writer and actress) came to Percy to meet our pupils and talk about their Oscar-winning short film, 'The Silent Child'.

The pair were very impressed with our school and the support and opportunities it offers our pupils, particularly the hearing-impaired.

Mr Napier and two children in the Media Team created this short news report on this VIP visit. Miss Hall has also generously provided sign language for the video.

The 'Silent Child' Producers At Percy Shurmer Academy (14/03/2018)

The Silent Child, picked up an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film earlier this month. It's just the beginning of filmmakers Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton's quest to raise awareness of the challenges facing deaf people. They've been visiting school children to show their film and to show that being deaf does not stop you from doing what you want. During their visit to Percy Shurmer Primary in Birmingham they met deaf pupils aged three to 11. Junior Leadership Team - Houses Of Parliament Visit (17/11/2017)

Percy JLT had an amazing day in London on Friday, visiting The Houses of Parliament. The children were given a guided tour, where they explored the Palace of Westminster to find out how UK democracy has been shaped over time. They discovered how issues in Parliament are debated and how the public can get their voices' heard. The children experienced travelling on a train and the London Underground for the first time ever. This day out will be an experience they will remember forever. The children were praised by staff for their exemplary manners and excellent behaviour throughout. They were a real credit to Percy Shurmer Academy.
